Question regarding Square boxes

Postby TXwarsherThrower » Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:01 pm

Hey guys.

Ive played washers on and off for years and now have been asked to make a few boxes for some friends.

I need to make one of the 16x16 Square Boxes. My question is, for the 4" pipe in the middle,do yall use the "repair" couplings, or the "waste" couplings that have the little ridge on the inside at the "halfway" point?

Also, does it matter if it is SCH 40 or can it be the thinner wall drainage/non-pressure rater pvc?

Ive got a few ideas for securing it,which have yet to be mentioned/tried on here, and if it works well enough, I'll make sure to post the details here ASAP!

Any and ALL help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks guys! :ugeek:

I haven't messed around with different types of couplings much, myself, but what do you mean by "repair" or "waste" couplings? Do you have any links?

I haven't used couplings in the past, just attached the pipe directly to the wood. (with varying results)

Would love to see pix and hear stories once you're done!

The repair couplings are smooth on the inside, where the other normal couplings have a small ridge that protrudes maybe 1/4" on the inside about halfway down the inside of the coupling itself.

Once I get this current set of 3-hole finished(just need to make legs and add carpet) I'll start on the 16" boxes.

Dont worry, I'll supply pics!

I use the couplings almost exclusively.
I slide it over a closet flange which I can easily attach to the boxes with screws.

Hey guv, Do you have a picture of one of your setups? I cant "put my finger" on what a closet flange looks like @ the moment.

Just finished my 3-hole setup yesterday and will post pics in the next day or 2, should be starting the square boxes here soon and will post pics of my "cups" once they are installed!
